Children learn the art of Taekwondo, safety skills, and lessons in leadership skills and character education. This is accomplished in a positive and fun environment that children can anticipate each week.
Comprehensive Character Development Program
Oakmont Martial Arts is much more than just a punching and kicking school. Our character development program offers daily lessons, monthly projects, and several resources for parenting. Each month our lessons focus on a different theme, and class discussions encourage children to learn, share, and discover the meaning of the month’s theme. Past months have included lessons in goal setting, self-control, citizenship, empathy, and honesty, to name a few!
Positive Role Models
Our dedicated team of instructors continually sets positive examples for children to follow. Instructors work hard to demonstrate a positive “black belt” attitude, to show perseverance, and to act with respect and courtesy.
Our invitation only SWAT and Leadership programs offer kids the opportunity to act as role models and helpers in younger or lower-rank classes. To receive a nomination, children must consistently act with a black belt attitude, show focus and discipline, demonstrate perseverance, and show courtesy and respect toward fellow students and instructors.
The Taekwondo belt ranking system continually offers children a framework for goal setting and perseverance. Performance stripes offer children a method of setting short-term goals, while belt ranks require longer-term goal setting and perseverance.
Taekwondo is a sport that develops the entire body, building coordination, balance, speed, and agility. Children experience improvement in muscle tone, coordination, and stamina. Because students progress at their own rate, nobody is left “sitting on the bench”.
